Flowers: More Bang For Your Buck

Peonies are some of the most popular wedding flowers, however they are also some of the most expensive flowers.

This is a gorgeous peony bouquet however peonies can be priced at over $10 a stem and with such a big bouquet like this that can be close to $300 for just one bouquet!!

A great substitute for peonies are ranunculus. They are very similarly shaped to peonies and they have many small petals like peonies. What makes ranunculus so great is that they come in practically every color plus they are a lot cheaper than peonies and some of those higher priced flowers at about $4 a stem.

Another lower cost substitute for peonies or even roses are garden roses or sometimes called cabbage roses. These roses are a lot bigger than normal roses but less expensive and fall into the same price range as ranunculus. They are called cabbage roses because the inside of the flower almost looks like cabbage. These are very pretty bouquet flowers and come in a variety of colors.

A Color Story

I absolutely love these colors for a wedding! I think it is really important when planning a wedding to pick a color family or maybe more than one family and work with colors inside that family. This is important because then your flowers and everything else do not have to be the exact same color but you can go with a color family and then you can have multiple types of flowers and not worried about it not all matching. I also love how they have added gold touches to the wine glasses and the plates and chargers! This would be an amazing summer or fall color scheme for a wedding!

Ms. Kelly

For my first post on my new wedding blog I wanted to put up an inspiration board for a wedding that I am currently working on. Seeing that I have absolutely no followers as of right now this is more or less a trial run, a post for me to get used to how it works and play around with the blog features.

Now back to the oh so very important issue of the wedding at hand. I was inspired initially by the picture on the far left. I love that Kelly Green color combined with the very bold black and white stripes! I also have become very fond of the flowers that are featured in the brides bouquet in the middle. The flower is called an Anemone, same spelling as the ocean plant but obviously a very different and much prettier piece of vegetation. These flowers are perfect for anyone wanting to include a bold punch of black into their wedding. The piercing centers of these flowers provide a gorgeous contrast to what otherwise could have been a pretty basic white bride's bouquet using roses, peonies, etc. Spice up the bouquet by either wrapping the stems of the bouquet in kelly green or a bold back and white stripped ribbon. This is a very versatile color scheme lending itself well to a very sophisticated black tie event or just a laid back spring wedding. Enjoy!

For my future followers please comment with requests of color schemes or themed weddings you would like to see and I would love to create something for you! Also any feedback on my first post is welcomed!
